Frequently asked, plainly answered

Course-authoring questions, plainly answered.

The short version: Contentum helps an independent course creator plan and write the curriculum. It leaves delivery to the tools built for learners.

01

What is Contentum?

Contentum is a single-user authoring and planning workspace for course creators. It keeps the structure and writing for a complete educational programme in one place.

02

Is Contentum a learning management system?

No. Contentum is for authoring educational content, not delivering it. It does not manage learners, enrolment, progress, certificates or a student-facing course experience.

03

How does the hierarchy work?

A programme can contain courses, modules and lessons. Levels may be skipped downward, so a lesson can sit directly beneath a course or programme, but higher levels can never be nested inside lower ones.

04

Can I write content beyond lesson pages?

Yes. Every level in the hierarchy has its own Markdown body, including the programme, courses, modules and lessons.

05

Does Contentum generate courses with AI?

Contentum does not include a built-in generation button. It exposes an MCP connector so supported clients can read or build within your programme after you connect them. Capability depends on the client, plan and permissions; the dated support matrix on the Connect page lists those limits.

06

Can I get my content out?

Yes. Export any programme as one versioned JSON file containing the full hierarchy and every Markdown body. You can import that file again as a fresh copy.

07

What happens when I delete something?

Deleted programmes and hierarchy items remain recoverable for 30 days. Undo and redo also cover structural and content changes while you work.

08

How much does it cost?

Contentum is currently free to use and does not require a credit card.

09

Can a team work in the same programme?

Not currently. Contentum is designed as a focused, single-user authoring desk; real-time collaboration and team roles are outside the present product scope.
